'The Tricky Art of Translating Poetry' - Interview on Deutsche Welle
Listen to Dany Mitzman's report here, or read the introduction below.
The London-based Poetry Translation Centre has come up with a unique and successful way of tranlating poetry, creating quality English translations of contemporary world poets. On their website you can find some 200 poems translated from 22 different languages.
Translating poetry is a tricky business. Even more than prose, it presents a series of literary obstacles and technical difficulties.
Translating only living poets, the Poetry Translation Centre arranges UK tours where audiences can experience live readings in both the original language and English.
