Manchester -  Diana Anphimiadi and Salome Benidze with Jean Sprackland and Helen Mort at the Anthony Burgess Foundation

Acclaimed Georgian poets Diana Anphimiadi and Salome Benidze will read their work alongside their poet-translators award-winning British poets Jean Sprackland and Helen Mort, before discussing the delicate art of translation with their bridge translator Natalia Bukia-Peters. Ths is a great opportunity to see all our Georgian poets and their translators together.

This event marks the publication of two new Poetry Translation Centre chapbooks: Beginning to Speak by Diana Anphimiadi (translated by Jean Sprackland and Natalia Bukia-Peters; supported by the Georgian National Book Center) and I Wanted to Ask You by Salome Benidze (translated by Helen Mort and Natalia Bukia-Peters).

This event is part of a special Manchester Writing School International Literature Week at the Manchester Metropolitan University. The PTC are delighted to present this evening of poetry and friendship in partnership with the International Anthony Burgess Foundation.

This event will be in English with poetry readings in Georgian and English.

No prior knowledge of Georgian is required!

The event is free to attend and all are welcome but pre-booking is essential.

Presented in partnership with the Manchester Writing School.
