We were really lucky that Bill agreed to co-translate Gaarriye's poems with Martin Orwin. Not only has he done an outstanding job conveying the power of Gaarriye's poetry, but he's also immersed himself in Somali culture and poetry. In April 2009, he made his first visit to Hargeysa in Somaliland to see Gaarriye.
