Poems from Three New Languages by Three New Poets from Three New Countries

In our workshop we've recently translated three new poets who come from three countries that are new to us, and who write in three languages we've never translated before.

They are: Chen Yuhong from Taiwan, who writes in Chinese; Ribka Sibhatu from Eritrea, who writes in Italian; and Euphrase Kezilahabi from Tanzania, who writes in Swahili.

We're very grateful indeed to their translators (respectively) Chenxin Jiang, Andre Naffis-Sahely and Katriina Ranne for all the hard work involved in introducing these three wonderful poets to English-speaking audiences all round the world.

Our poetry translation workshops are one of the PTC's core activities. Through them we've first encountered some of the poets we've gone on to translate, publish and record at length. A significant number of the poets who've visited the UK to take part in our tours were introduced to us by a translator bringing their poems to a workshop.

Please sign up to join our workshop mailing list if you'd like to get involved. Workshops are open to anyone who can contribute translations of poetry by contemporary poets from Africa, Asia and Latin America and new workshop members are always very welcome!
