2012 has been an exceptional year for the Poetry Translation Centre. If you helped to translate a new poem into English for the first time at one of our workshops, were one of the 2000 people who attended a poetry reading, came along to read your own work at a community event, bought a beautiful PTC dual-language chapbook, or downloaded one of our poetry podcasts, then THANK YOU!

In the past year we’ve added 86 new poems and 13 new poets to our website. We've translated poetry from seven more countries and from four new languages. We’ve also added 52 new recordings, 74 new photos and 21 new videos to our website. Our weekly poem podcasts continue to be a huge success: 2012 saw the release of 52 new podcasts which were downloaded xxx times!

In March, we celebrated International Women's Day by launching a new chapbook of poems by the outstanding Somali poet, Caasha Lul Mohammed Yusuf, with a delightful reading by Caasha and her translator, Clare Pollard.

In May, we held our wonderful Persian Poets' Tour which featured the poetry of five Persian-language poets from three countries (Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan).

In June 2012, ten of our poets and translators were chosen to take part in the astonishing Poetry Parnassus, the world's largest ever gathering of international poets staged at London's Southbank Centre in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.

In July, leading Sudanese poet, Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi, began his pioneering residency at The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology.

In October, the PTC was a honoured to be a partner in this year's Somali Week Festival.
