The Letter

by Kajal Ahmad

On a simple page the moon
sent this simple line
to the sun's house:
‘I have waited for you all these years
and was too shy to ask you:
Why don't you marry me?'
And the sun sent an answer
through one of the stars
‘All these years
I have been hiding from you
I didn't want to tell you that I don't dare to.'
