Nostalgia

How I miss the stars!
There alone
each star lights the way to a tryst.

How I long for the sky!
There alone
the sky is as vast as the ocean.

I yearn for that heavenly scent!
There alone
every blossom releases its essence.

Clancette Clift

I would actually like to have a go at a translation of this one myself. As a starting point, I wish that I could ask the poet the following:
a. Whether the poet means that only in the the stars is there hope of a rendesvous.
b. Whether the poet means that  the sky, reflected in the sea, itself conr\tains the colours of that sea?
c. If the poet might possible mean that , being mad with desire for scent of natural perfume; his desire can only be understood by being kept apart from the sky for a while, maybe imprisoned in some way? tHat the special odours of an evening out under the sky are what he is yearning for? How I wish I could speak the language of the poet and siscuss this with him/her.
That as he says in v1 “how I miss the stars” he alludes to having been unable to have access to the marvels and mystery of the sky for some time? or pehaps having been blind to the hopes we are able to entertain after spending time underneath a beautiful night sky?
