Part of: Youth Events Polylingual Open Mic: Poetry from every language

Poetry Translation Centre
London

Deptford needs to hear your voice! The PTC is having its first Open Mic with a Polylingual flavour, we want poems from every language under the sun and clouds. Poems you have written yourself, poems mixing your mother tongue with your father’s favourite sware words, verse from your grandmother's home town, your favourites from Instagram with unpronounceable emojis or the wisdom of your forefathers in rhyming couplets, even your own English language compositions. Come along, jump on our makeshift stage and read to a supportive audience.

And don’t worry you won't be alone, the PTC will be reading some of their translations from the last 15 years. If you don’t fancy getting up, that’s fine too, poets needed but wallflowers welcome.

The open mic is part of our Deptford and Decolonisation event. If you want to find out more about the theory of decolonisation and how you can make a positive change in your community why not come a bit earlier at 3.00pm and come to our workshop lead by Journalist and campaigner Lola Olufemi.
