Yerlan Junis

Yerlan Junis is a Kazakh poet and literary translator. His first poetry collection came out when he was still at school and was followed by several more. Junis’s lyrical verses are highly regarded by his literary colleagues for their unexpected surrealist images and their sincere, yet aristocratic expression of the human emotions. He has also translated a number of world classics from Russian and Persian into Kazakh. He has won a number of awards, including national and international poetry contests and the Grand Prix of the Shabyt International Youth Festival.
