The PTC workshops have been translating Iraj Ziayi since November 2016. This will be the third workshop with translator Alireza Abiz looking at the work of 'The Poet Of Objects.' You can read our previous translations of his work on the PTC website. Award-winning Poet Clare Pollard will be facilitating.

There is no need to know the language being translated, just come along!

Iraj Ziayi's relationship with objects is very personal and peculiar. In a surreal setting, he picks unrelated objects and puts them alongside each other creating a world where each object has their individual life. Because of his love of objects, he has been given the nickname of ‘the Poet of Objects’.

Alireza Abiz is an Iranian poet, literary critic and translator. Abiz has written extensively on Persian contemporary literature and culture. Abiz is an award-winning translator and has translated some leading English language poets including W.B. Yeats, Ted Hughes, Basil Bunting, Derek Walcott, Allen Ginsberg and C.K. Williams into Persian.

Clare Pollard is an award-winning UK poet, She has published four collections with Bloodaxe Books, latest is Incarnation. She has extensive experience as a translator, co-translating Asha Lul Mohamud Yusuf for the PTC. Starting in 2018 Clare will be the Editor of Modern Poetry in Translation magazine.
