Join translator Christina Ng in conversation with PTC Director Nariman Youssef for an evening of readings from The Years in My Hair: 诗选 (1966–2017), a selection of poems by Singaporean Chinese poet Dan Ying. Translated from Chinese by Christina, it is the first book from Plutonic Press, the Poetry Translation Centre’s new imprint.
Spanning six decades, the collection follows Dan Ying’s attention to nature, everyday life and the changing experience of womanhood. Her poems draw on classical Chinese poetry and Buddhist and Taoist thought while speaking in a voice that is intimate, playful and distinctly her own.
