In-person event in Singapore
Join us to celebrate The Years in My Hair: 诗选 (1966–2017), a new selection of poems by Singaporean Chinese poet Dan Ying, translated by Christina Ng. It is the first book from Plutonic Press, the Poetry Translation Centre’s new poetry imprint. Whoop!
Spanning six decades, the collection brings Dan Ying’s poetry to English-language readers. Her poems move between the natural world, the everyday realities of womanhood and a search for balance.
For this afternoon of readings and conversation, Christina will be joined by poet, writer and Cultural Medallion recipient Professor Wong Yoon Wah. Together they’ll explore Dan Ying’s work and the choices involved in bringing her poetry into English. Poet Theophilus Kwek will moderate the conversation.
