Artists featured in the Canticle of the Birds exhibition, inspired by a 12th-century poem, draw on both traditional and contemporary forms to create something new and beautiful.
In this poetry workshop, participants will write in a 21st-century form—Jericho Brown’s Duplex—that is rooted in the 7th-century ghazal and 13th-century sonnet. We will use traditional art formats to collapse and expand time, while also thinking about the thin line between art and poetry.
